What is Welcome Corps?

Welcome Corps is a U.S. government program that connects U.S. citizens or permanent residents with refugees seeking resettlement. Rainbow Railroad is the first queer organization partnering with Welcome Corps to bring at-risk LGBTQI+ refugees to the U.S. through its Communities of Care (CoC) program. CoC is the only LGBTQI+-focused program that allows private citizens to help LGBTQI+ refugees settle across the U.S. Working in a private sponsorship group (PSG), volunteers provide critical support to queer and trans refugees fleeing persecution and empower them with resources as they build a new life with dignity in a community of care. A sponsor’s contribution, no matter how big or small, makes a monumental difference in a refugee’s life.
