Victor Madrigal-Borloz is a globally respected human rights advocate with deep expertise in international law and LGBTQI+ rights. From 2018 to 2023, he served as the United Nations Independent Expert on protection against violence and discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. In this role, he led groundbreaking global work on issues such as conversion practices, criminalization, and systemic discrimination.
Victor brings decades of experience advancing human rights through international mechanisms. He has held senior leadership roles at the Inter-American Human Rights Court and Commission and the International Rehabilitation Council for Torture Victims. He currently serves as a Senior Visiting Researcher at Harvard Law School and the Williams Institute at UCLA, where he continues to shape global discourse on equality and justice.
