Véronique (Véro) holds an Honours BSocSc in International Development and Globalization from the University of Ottawa and was an IDEX Global Fellow.  
 
In the past, Véro has worked as a Research Assistant at the Human Rights Research and Education Center (HRREC) at the University of Ottawa, and at the United Nations Association in Canada as both a Junior Project Officer and an official Canadian delegate for the UN’s Habitat III Summit. She co-founded the Lahaie Luna Lezama NGO, which focuses on research for sustainable menstrual hygiene rights and advocacy to ensure that those experiencing period poverty can menstruate with dignity.   
 
Growing up as a French-Canadian Latina in a multicultural Venezuelan-Canadian household led her to also become fluent in Spanish and French.
 
Besides her passion for gender equality, human rights advocacy and grassroots initiatives, Véro loves to bake, listen/play classical music, travel and write poetry!
