Latoya joined Rainbow Railroad in 2023 to lead the strategic planning, conceptualization, development, and implementation of a community engagement strategy, and to provide strategic oversight of our private sponsorship program in the U.S.
Latoya is a former social science college educator and a human rights advocate with over nine years’ experience in activism and movement building. She has a Master’s degree in Comparative Politics and Political Theory, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education and Training, and a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy. Latoya specializes in program and curriculum development, community engagement, and training facilitation.
She is passionate about social justice guided by intersectionality. Her toolbox of engagement strategies is grounded in the Freirean philosophy of transformational talk.
An avid reader, lover of multiple genres of music and taking long walks, Latoya has made Canada her home, thanks to the kindness and compassion of Rainbow Railroad and The 519.
