Kendra was born and raised in Mandeville, Jamaica, and has a background in Psychology with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Guidance and Counselling. She is a Human Rights Defender with over 10 years of experience working with LGBTQ+ people who have been affected by homelessness and forced displacement. Kendra is a community mobilizer who is always keen on utilizing policy and advocacy to achieve social change. With the assistance of Rainbow Railroad she was able to relocate safely to the United States where she currently resides in Virginia.
Kendra is thrilled to join Rainbow Railroad as Community Engagement Officer, U.S. She is passionate about working with the organization to collaboratively find pathways to safety for LGBTQI+ people as Rainbow Railroad did for her. She will co-manage the implementation of Welcome Corps – the U.S. private sponsorship of refugees program, while supporting the expansion of the organization’s community engagement portfolio.
