As a program officer, Hazim works directly with individuals supporting their journeys to a safer life. Dia has served on the board of Mantioba’s Sexuality Education Resource Centre (SERC), and as project manager for the Water Allies research team. Dia also currently serves on the board of directors of Planned Parenthood Toronto (PPT).
They are a queer Bugis-Malay, Chinese anthropology scholar with an MA in anthropology and collaborative master’s specialization in contemporary East and Southeast Asian studies from the University of Toronto. Hazim also holds a BA honours in anthropology from the University of Winnipeg and a higher national diploma in business from Linton University. They have presented their research at the International Conference on Gender Studies, McGill University, Queen’s University and elsewhere.
Outside of Rainbow Railroad, dia enjoys bird watching every morning, camping, hiking and frolicking in the water (when it’s warm enough).
