Ashton works to secure partnerships with critical individuals and organizations in the United States to support Rainbow Railroad’s mission. In prior roles, he led fundraising efforts at OutRight Action International, advocated for LGBTQ+ rights at the US State Department, helped elect the second openly-gay Congressperson from Madison, Wisconsin (current U.S. Rep. Mark Pocan) and arranged tours for queer travelers.
His efforts to support those facing persecution and violence began in high school, where he helped form the first Amnesty International chapter in suburban Minneapolis, Minnesota. Outside of the office, he publishes GAYography, a weekly news brief and blog that provides travel insights and news about LGBTQI communities in different parts of the world. Based in Manhattan, Ashton loves to travel and has visited over 50 countries and hundreds of cities around the world.
