When the U.S. Administration cut United States Agency for International Development funding, the world’s largest source of humanitarian aid, many individuals resettling through our programs lost access to financial support for housing, medication, and basic needs. In response, Rainbow Railroad stepped up to fill the gap, proving that immediate cash support works.
Through initiatives like the Communities of Care program, the Community Access Fund, and the Housing and Livelihood Assistance Fund, we’ve seen how direct financial aid provides queer refugees with safety, dignity, and autonomy. This year-end, we’re meeting this crisis head-on: ensuring LGBTQI+ refugees not only survive but have the foundation to rebuild their lives in safety, continuing a proud legacy of solidarity and mutual aid.
